Wild in East Woodlands

A weekend of adventures: family forest crafts, live music, storytelling, delicious food and woodland walks on the edge of Longleat Forest. We hosted this community gathering in Autumn 2022, in partnership with family support charity Purple Elephant, as part of settling in to our new home in Frome. Here’s a gallery of photos by Paul Blakemore.

Supporting Community Artists in Frome

We’ve been hosting a series of gatherings for creative folk, as well as one-to-one conversations with anyone who wants to develop new community arts projects locally.

Adventures in Storytelling

As part of our work in Frome, we are launching a series of storytelling projects in schools. These will focus on supporting young people to create their own imaginative worlds.

In the research phase of this work, Terrestrial’s Director Tom Spencer is available for one-off storytelling workshops: in schools, at festivals, with community groups…

2020-2021
Across England

Remote Residencies

We supported an inspiring group of community artists across England to explore new connections with their local environments.

Conversations with Community Artists

We sat down for a chat with an extraordinary group of artists about their work with communities.

Spy Kids Wanted

A free website full of challenges, quizzes and stories. Created by Nigel Barrett, Louise Mari & Amy Pitt - inspired by a collaboration with 500 children in Weston.

Designed for ages 7-12, but fun for anyone.
Suitable for playing at home, online, or in classrooms.

2018-2019
Weston-super-Mare

Each of these projects grew out of a collaboration between visiting national artists and inspiring local community groups.

Voices of Worle

A group of older Worle residents collaborated with composer Verity Standen and filmmaker Adam Laity to explore personal histories. And we gathered a local choir to perform songs inspired by these stories.

Abandon

We worked with an inspiring group of people with experience of addiction, together with dance artists Clare Reynolds & Ania Varez, to create a bold dance performance for our festival in November.

Guerrilla Media Unit

We’ve been creating and sharing wild stories about Weston... while developing skills in video, podcasting, writing and more, hosted by theatre director & radio producer John Norton.

Spies in Schools

Over the course of a year, theatre artists Nigel Barrett & Louise Mari devised adventures with eight Weston primary schools - culminating in a huge performance on the beach in the summer.

Weston Artspace

We opened a free studio for Weston-super-Mare’s creative community to meet, work, develop skills and share ideas.

We shared all of these projects with a public audience at our Terrestrial Festival in November 2019. You can explore the full programme here, and watch a film following the journey of these projects made by our friends at Black Cat Films.
