Storytelling
We are developing a series of new projects focused on finding new ways for community groups, especially young people, to imagine and create their own adventures.
Terrestrial’s Director Tom Spencer is currently working with 200 children across three primary schools in Frome to create their own imagined worlds over the summer term. They are going on story walks, drawing story maps, and performing one another’s tales.
During this research phase, Tom is also available for one-off storytelling workshops - perfect for schools, community groups and festivals. In these sessions, we create totally unique, in-the-moment stories out of suggestions and ideas from the group.
“We have been loving your storytelling sessions! The children have collaborated so happily and taken ownership of their stories with huge enthusiasm. The whole class has entered into the spirit of storytelling, from the children usually least engaged in English lessons to the children who love reading and writing. Everyone has thrown themselves into the sessions and it is the highlight of our Fridays! The behaviour of the children has been fantastic because they are all enjoying themselves and drawn into the stories so well by you.”
- Vallis First School, Frome.
“Tom the storyteller was brilliant! All he brought with him was a saucepan, himself and his creative imagination, and he had the children's attention from the moment he began. His kind, warm nature made the children feel all their ideas were welcomed.”
- ELAN Primary Schools, Weston-super-Mare.
